Why in the discussion?
On November 1, 2018, the fourth meeting between the Policy Commission and the State Council for Development Research Center (DRC) of the People's Republic of China was organized in Mumbai. It is notable that this second Ministerial Dialogue between India and China after the meeting between India's Prime Minister and the President of China during the BRICS Conference held in Johannesburg in July 2018.

  • The Policy Commission- DRC talks provides a strong platform for the continuous intellectual partnership between the two countries, with information provided by experts to help in the key areas of India-China Economic Cooperation.
  • During this negotiation, many sessions were organized on Globalization Globalization and the possibilities of macroeconomic policies, innovation and economic change, India and China trade and economic cooperation in both the countries.
  • Both sides agreed on the need for advanced policy coordination to investigate issues related to trade and help in the investment.
  • In this negotiation held between the two countries, it was also agreed that the Policy Commission and DRC will work towards joint research in the areas of WTO related reforms, urbanization and advanced technologies.
  • Policy- The fifth edition of DRC talks will be held in Wuhan, China in November 2019.

  • On October 25, 2018, the Federal Parliamentary Assembly unanimously elected Sehgal's work as President. He took the place of the boy Teshome. Sehgal's tenure will be for six years.

    Pankaj Advani, who won 19 times the world championship title, won the Asian Tour 10 Reds Snooker 2018 title in China. It is notable that he is the first Indian to win the Asian Tour 10 Reds Snooker title.

Crackers with low pollution developed by CSIR

  • Scientists of CSIR have developed less pollutant crackers, which are not only environmentally friendly, but are 15 to 20 percent cheaper compared to conventional firecrackers.
  • These firecrackers have been named Safe Water Reliever (SWAS), Safe Minimal Aluminum (SAFAL) and Safe Thermite Cracker (STAR).
  • The purpose of this effort of CSIR is to remove the concerns related to pollution and save the livelihood of those engaged in this business. It is worth noting that the total annual sales of the Indian Fireworks Industry is about Rs 6,000 crore and it provides direct or indirect employment opportunities to more than 5 lakh families.
  • For the first time in India, an emission testing facility has been set up at CSIR-NEERI and a detailed examination of traditional and green firecrackers is being done to monitor emissions and voice.

Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters

Under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, the Union Cabinet has given its approval for mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between India and Morocco.

  • This agreement provides comprehensive legal framework for investigating crime between India and Morocco and dealing with prosecutions, prevention, confiscation of crime and forfeiture of instruments of crime and methods of crime.
  • Its purpose is to investigate crime and make prosecution more effective and provide the necessary peaceful environment for society.
  • This agreement will help in acquiring information about organized criminals and methods of terrorism, which will result in appropriate policy decisions in the field of internal security.
